ELTE: Where Cultures Meet and Minds Grow

Before joining ELTE, I had many concerns, one of the biggest was about inclusivity. Questions kept running through my mind: Will I feel welcomed? Will I be surrounded by just one culture?
Well, those questions didn’t last long. As soon as I joined the university, I found myself in a classroom filled with classmates from diverse backgrounds, Algeria, China, Cambodia, Iran, and Kenya. We’re truly a melting pot. This diversity brought creativity into our classes and each of us shared our own perspectives, discussed different topics, and discovered both our similarities and differences. Most importantly, we always aim to find common ground and respect each other.
I know that many international students out there who are planning to join ELTE might have the same questions I once had. That’s why I want to say this: ELTE is a university that truly welcomes students from all around the world. Here, you’ll make friends from diverse backgrounds and gain new perspectives you might have never imagined before.
Let me give you an example. A few weeks ago, there was an event called Cultural Connection Day, and it was truly magnificent. People from diverse countries, cultures, and backgrounds came together on one of ELTE’s campuses to represent and share their heritage. Of course, most of them were ELTE students.
Upon arrival, they gave us a “passport” featuring the different countries represented at the event. The idea was simple but brilliant, you visited each booth to collect a stamp. As you explore each one, you get to experience a piece of that country’s culture, from traditional food to customs and more. You could ask questions, interact, and learn firsthand from the students representing their cultures.
It was such a fun and enriching experience. I had the chance not only to discover and appreciate other cultures, but also to proudly represent my own. The atmosphere was so vibrant and relaxed that I completely lost track of time.
The event wasn’t just about visiting booths; there was a full-day program packed with activities. We had the chance to enjoy performances from different countries, including singing, dancing, and even a cultural fashion show. It was a beautiful display of tradition, talent, and creativity from around the world.
The best part for me was definitely the food. I got to try so many delicious dishes from different countries! I even brought home a few souvenirs and had the chance to try on some traditional clothing, it truly felt like traveling the world in one day.
To wrap it up, I have to say that diversity has never been a problem. In fact, it’s what makes us unique. ELTE is a wonderfully diverse community where we have the chance to meet people from all walks of life, each with their own story. There’s something truly beautiful about seeking to understand one another and learning about different cultures.
